Black Accessories - and Brown and Ivory and Grey........

Having been interrogated by my agent this afternoon; (literary, you understand) about how websites fall into different categories, such as mammoth (think Amazon and Ebay), Department Stores (John Lewis, Debenhams, House of Fraser and soon to be launched Selfridges) Beautifully designed and well marketed (net-a-porter.com, The White Company) and small and sometimes beautiful and sometimes needing a few tweaks I was pushed to name those who I really thought were hidden gems, hidden really because most people haven't heard of them. Black.co.uk is a case in point.

Arrive at this website and you don't really know who they are, which is always a danger because most people won't wait to find out. But dig a little deeper and you'll find a seriously good collection of accessories. Again you won't know, because the pics could be a bit better (sorry) but everything here is superb quality, reasonably priced and the service you'll get is second to none. How do I know this? Because I've ordered from them several times, silly, and now I chat the the owners as well. This is the perfect time of year to pay them a visit, because there's a really good choice of Christmas Gifts you won't find anywhere else. The packaging is gorgeous too.

Launching the new shopping portal at http://www.thesiteguide.com/ We've been searching for brands and products that, grouped together, create a very individual collection, which again you can't find anywhere else. Are they all things I would like to have? Well - mostly, but I don't pick all of them. I'm hankering after John Galliano's fabulously scented candle for Diptyque - the remains of my last one is sitting in front of me while I write, and the range of +J for Uniqlo, which is right up my street - high quality, reasonably priced and very contemporary. Yummmmm, I'd like it all.

Back to London tomorrow to visit Habitat, which I'm really looking forward to, and a business lunch. Life is so very hard, you know. Oh and did I mention I have the best literary agent? Finding someone who really understands you, and you can have fun with, is fab.
