This is a great time to put away your winter tote….and invest in a tote bag that’ll not only hold everything, be perfect for travelling and take you shopping anywhere but has that lustworthy newness about it, whether it’s a new colour, shape or style.
As every handbag designer of note has not just one but several tote bags in their collection, and each coming usually in a rainbow of of each season's fashion colours, it’s possibly time to move away from the blacks browns and burgundies of autumn/winter and go for something with a little more pop to it. Although it has to be said you can never go wrong with black….
My favourites in the mid priced league are Lancaster Paris Ikon Totes, which come not just in black and grey, brown and nude, but red, blue, white.. and on. Then of course there’s Michael Michael Kors, everyone’s favourite handbag designer, and new on the block at Selfridges is Mystique - a Balinese company with some gorgeous animal print totes. The joy of the mid priced tote bag is that you can have more than one and they’re usually of very high quality.
From a designer point of view, and were I to splash out, I would go for one of MCM’s totes, which have that ‘I’m something different’ look about them and come in lots of colours but I have to say that Mansur Gavriel’s totes with their contrasting interiors take a lot of beating. Over to you…….
