The best gifts for fitness lovers fall into three categories; things they wouldn’t buy for themselves because they’re expensive but they fit right into their lifestyle, such as a pair of customised Nike iD Trainers which, by the way, I’d let them customise themselves, or a sleek silver cold weather padded jacket.
Then there’s the second category, the item any fitness lover just can’t have too many of, such as a great pair of running tights, a cashmere beanie for running in the cold, sports headphones and tech hoodies. You don’t have to spend the earth here although you can, but these are things that are always welcome.
Finally there are the gifts that fit into the accessories category that are great as gifts for the son’s girlfriend or colleague who you know is into running/gym/yoga and they include an unusual yoga mat, sports socks, a sports armband for holding their phone while they run or insulated eTip gloves that allow them to use their phone while they run. Some of these also make great stocking fillers.
The rules of buying for a fitness lover are simple, know what type of fitness they’re into (if in doubt go down the beanie, hoodie, kit bag route as they’re great for any one who loves fitness) Choose your budget, and then go shop. These are some of the easiest people to buy for and you definitely have one or several that you know. I have at least four.
Word of advice. Don’t give gifts for fitness lovers that they can’t exchange – you may just have got the colour, style, size wrong. And don’t give a fitness tracker unless, again, they can take it back or exchange.
