Winter Skincare + Bath and Body - Hands and Nails - the Beauty Products to Amp up your Routine

When beauty companies launch new products each autumn, as they always do, it seems as if all they’re trying to do is to get us to buy more and over stock an already heaving beauty arsenal.

There’s no doubt that you do need to tweak your beauty routine at this time of year.  You don’t wear the same clothes all year round, after all.  To improve your beauty regimen as the chilly weather approaches what you need to do is improve hydration, from body products to skincare, hand and lip care.

Step one – skincare.  This is the time to make your skin receptive to your serum and moisturiser so exfoliators and masks become more important than ever.  Quick fixes are Philosophy’s exfoliator and cleanser in one, and Trish McEvoy’s Beta Hydroxy Pads, both of which make short work of making your skin smoother and brighter.

Then follow your exfoliator with a mask and then your serum, moisturiser and primer will work even harder for you whatever the weather.

There’s a lot of discussion about how often you should exfoliate and it depends on your skin.  Both of these are quite gentle and can be used several times a week.

Cold weather and dry air are not beauty’s best friends, which is why this is the best time to take a look at what’s on offer, have some fun, and go for the therapy of trying some new products that offer increased hydration and a glowing finish.  Don’t skip on the SPF just because it’s cooler.  So  make sure that at least one of the products you use is designed to protect as well as hydrate.

Step 2 – Hands and Lips - It’s all too easy to forget that hand lotion and lip balm need to be added in to your routine as it gets colder to ensure you avoid dryness and even worse chapped hands or lips.  Having been there with both I use hand lotion as much as possible and keep both that and lip balm at the ready in my bag.

If the worst happens turn immediately to Neutrogena’s miracle Norwegian Hand Cream to get rid of serious dryness, and Trish McEvoy’s Beauty Booster Lip Balm for lips.  Apply both hand cream and lip balm regularly.

Step 3 – Body Scrubs and Lotions -
Too often you want to get dressed as fast as possible once out of the bath or shower in order to stay warm, at least you do in my house, however you need to pay even more attention to body moisturising and believe me you can do it fast if you need to.

Use a body scrub regularly to make your body lotion more effective.  You can do this in a few seconds in the bath or shower – trust me on this.  Not only does it make your skin gleam but your moisturiser will be that much more effective.

Most importantly it’s this season when you shouldn’t be skipping any part of your routine, no matter how much of a hurry you’re in, if you want to keep your skin, body, hands and lips in peak condition.  If you leave anything out you’ll soon know about it.

All of these products are specifically designed with hydration in mind, so take your pick and get ready for winter.
