The little lace dress is rapidly becoming an all year round favourite, with or without sleeves, full length or short, lace is so flattering – depending on the design of course – that every self respecting little black, red or blue dress collector almost certainly has several in their wardrobe.
This year there are even more on sale, the stores will say it’s because of the weather, but it’s to your benefit and whether you’re after something to wear at Glyndebourne (which is still going strong) or a little black number for winter cocktails or dinner you don’t have to wait for the new season’s collections, you can have your cake and eat it so to speak by picking something you can wear this season and on right through the next.
I always look for lace with a little stretch in it because it tends to be more forgiving, although too much ruching can have the opposite effect. But there’s everything here. If you want sleeves you’ll find them, off the shoulder? No problem or just simple and sexy with a see-through hem. These, of course, are the most difficult to shorten so if you choose something like Adriana Papell’s Guipure lace knee length dress and you find it’s a little on the long side consider having the lining shortened instead.
I don’t think you can go wrong with lace at any time of year, so choose wisely now and invest in lace right now to wear now, wear later and love for seasons to come. The only think I would add to all of this is don’t wait too long, most of these will not be around in a week or so.
