Those who want to be watched and wear their workout clothes as tight and bright as possible – usually leaving nothing to the imagination….
Those who are there just to work out and really don’t care about anyone else - any old t-shirt and leggings will do.
Those who cleverly mix colour and neutrals to create a look that is simple, chic and will take them anywhere.
This seasons workout clothes cleverly combine neutral (usually black or grey) with geometric patterns, brightly coloured elements and some extremely bright trainers.

If in doubt about what to wear you can’t go wrong with a pair of black or dark grey capri or full length gym/running tights. My favourites are Under Armour’s Perfect Capris which have a matte feel to them rather than looking shiny and wash and wear very well. They also have a high enough waistband to be flattering.

Colours this spring go from purple and magenta to bright orange and pale turquoise so brighten up your next trip to the gym with at least a brightly coloured t-shirt and a pair of new season’s flashily bright trainers.

One trend to look out for is mesh inserts in leggings/tights as in Nike’s mesh panelled dri fit leggings. Depending on where the mesh inserts are these can look very chic or slightly silly. The choice is yours. Find them in bright orange and cobalt blue at Net-a-Porter and in Black mesh panelled capris or full length tights at the Nike Store…….
As always the place to invest is in your trainers, as a badly fitting or supportive pair will be bad for you long term. My favourites as always are Nike Pegasus Air Zoom 32 and Zoom Vomero (which have excellent support and cushioning) and Nike Structure which have more stability.
