12 super flattering dresses and dinner at les Baux de Provence
Baumaniere de les Baux de Provence nestles in the wild rocks of Les Baux, where the scenery is quite different to anywhere else in the world. Walk up through the Alpilles on a clear day and the views are quite incredible.
Baumaniere is a five star hotel created from several different buildings, all totally idiosyncratic with individually designed rooms and furnishings.
There are three restaurants. The one that most come to this sauvage part of Provence for is the Oustau de Baumaniere which has two well deserved Michelin stars. Yes it’s expensive but the food is well worth the visit and if you’re in the area, or if you’re looking for something special for a weekend away you should consider coming here.
Working out what to wear here for dinner is quite tricky, because pretty well anything goes from smart casual to full on dinner dresses. Having come from Paris and going on to London (and this time being determined not to over-pack) I chose packable, uncrushable crepe jersey dresses which work as well in the city as Provence.
Keep it reasonably understated and you can accessories as you want, jewellery, a simple clutch and nude high heels work with everything, as does a black cashmere wrap or fur trimmed cardigan.
Designers for this type of dress are many, my favourites are Michael Michael Kors, Lauren Ralph Lauren, Karen Millen and Diane von Furstenberg.
