What to wear to the gym, flattering fitness fashion treats

I may have mentioned in the past that it doesn’t matter what you wear to the gym as long as you go.  Which is true….up to a point.  As with everything else, if what you wear to the gym makes you feel good you’re likely to want to wear it more.  Motivation to go?  Maybe.  Maybe not, but with today’s trend of gym/lounge/coffee/pick the kids up from school and look fit-wear it makes sense to have fitness fashion in your wardrobe that you’re happy to wear, know makes you look good and is definitely therapy of one kind or another.

I’m always hankering after those little layered tops that so many girls wear but they simply don’t suit me so I’ve given that idea up.  Patterned gym capris can be flattering provided they’re the right length (too short and they can make you look stumpy, too long and you’re into patterned leggings which is fine but not really for working out).  Shorts are fine if you have great legs but really for the gym only, likewise crop tops.

Favourite fashion fitness treats you can wear pretty much anywhere are streamlined capris, brightly coloured tops and sleek zip jackets and, of course, the new trainers – neon pink, grey with orange laces, black and white, they have to fit perfectly but otherwise anything goes.  I don’t go anywhere without at least two pairs of Nikes, my brand of choice (love that swoosh).  And socks – a peek of neon orange or pink or green.  Streamlined black with a pop of bright via trainers, top or socks works perfectly.

What to wear underneath?  It’s up to you, anything goes, but personally I think great support and the brighter the better.
