Ted Baker and the perfect summer occasion dress

Ted Baker Crystal Floral Czara midi dressPassing the Ted Baker store in Northpark Center Dallas a couple of weeks ago (one of the largest shopping Malls in the US) my eye was caught by the print dress in the window.  Vivid, tropical and jewel-toned it was an irresistible try-on.  The price of course would be a lot more than in the UK but as I had time, in I went.  Nothing doing, they didn’t have my size.  Note to everyone.  You may need to size up.

Back in the UK and in House of Fraser again my eye was caught by….so many beautiful prints I had to try them all.  One particular style of dress, slim fitting, stretchy fabric, always gorgeous colours.  Needless to say we stock more here then they do in the US and everything fitted perfectly which could have been unfortunate except that I restrained myself.

Ted Baker’s dresses are always sophisticated and sexy with dresses for both work and play and this season is no exception.  Where he has gone to town this season is to wrap up by far the best selection of prints.  Modern without being ‘geo’.  Pretty and grown up at the same time.  Some more elegant, some more sexy, either way, if you’re looking for a curve hugging dressed up dress for a summer occasion you should give one of these a try.

Be aware that the strappy dresses have zips that open all the way down, and go down to within about six inches of the hem, so shortening would be almost impossible.  The cap sleeved dresses have a more normal zip and so could be shortened if you want to.  A normal size 12 will probably want a size 3.  If you’re between sizes you may need to size up.  Size 4 will be a small size 14.
They are in a neoprene fabric and so are designed to be quite tight, but they combine figure hugging with enough stretch to move around in.  Fall in love with the pattern, find the flattering fit and you’ll be set for summer.

Be warned if you’re tempted these are selling fast, particularly in sizes 3 and 4 (12 and 14).  You’ll find the collection at Ted Baker, House of Fraser, John Lewis, and Selfridges, so if one doesn’t have your size the other may.
