I’ll be completely honest here, I’m not your average Orvis customer – although I live (and work much of the time) out in the wilds of Bucks surrounded by dogs and mud there’s a town girl inside this country girl who doesn’t do the whole country classic clothing vibe.
But when I saw this reversible faux fur coat I had to go and try it on, the pictures don’t do any of these coats justice. You can reverse it from faux fur to raincoat and it looks great both ways. The fit is generous and slightly A-line, so you may want to go a size down, but it’ll do double duty from walks in the park to winters in New York and you can’t ask more than that.
There are three styles of reversible coat, one quite long and lined with black faux fur, the next, which I like the best, just above the knee (depending on your height of course) and lined in a rich dark brown, and the third with a lighter faux fur and just a little shorter. Sizing is extra small to extra large.
Then there’s the four button sweater wrap. This comes in six colours including pale grey, charcoal, navy and merlot, wear it buttoned on the shoulder or in front or it can be worn unbuttoned as a wrap. Cabled, and designed in Italian lambswool, if you’re this kind of person you’ll probably want one in each colour.
Finally the jumper dress, in a dark grey merino and cashmere mix, with a turtle neck and cut generously, so you can choose to have it more fitted and go a size down or wear it more easily as Orvis intend. What more do you need on a chilly day than black opaque tights and a great pair of boots?
Orvis pictures reflect the classic lifestyle and customer they are most popular with, and to my mind none of the pictures really do the products justice, as I visited my local Orvis store and was tempted on many more fronts than online.
As with everything Orvis the prices aren’t outrageous, and you can expect superb quality. Have a look.
