Many online retailers (and offline) have already been advertising ‘Black Friday’ deals. Let’s get it right, technically Black Friday is when you go out to the stores and start queuing at midnight on Thanksgiving Thursday, and Cyber Monday is when you tap in to all of the deals online.
No more. Black Friday is now an excuse for markdowns that starts well before the date (here in Dallas and on the TV they’ve been going strong all week), when any sane person stays well away from the stores, and where all the deals are already online. So if you have any sense you’ll take advantage of the discounts, stay at home and start shopping online right now.
If I were going to buy just one product in a sale right now it would be a faux fur jacket. Having already tapped into the gilet trend I would want something chic and modern and perfect for wearing over my little black dress-es over the Christmas season.
The best selections online are going to be at the department stores, but check the size availability first, as they won’t all be there. And some of these are already reduced so if you see something you love snap it up.
When buying a faux fur coat or jacket you need to make sure that, if short, it flatters your figure, as some do and some can make you look more bulky. That it isn’t a completely mad faux fur which you will want to wear for only one season, that’s ok if you’re a fashion editor, but not if you’re making an investment.
Faux fur can work perfectly for day or night depending on how you wear it, with a simple white shirt or minimal sweater and jeans or slim pants for day, and over just about anything in the evening.
There will be a lot of faux fur coats and jackets in the end of season markdowns, not many at this point, but be careful, as the best will have flown away. You have been warned.
