The floral print is everywhere right now - some seriously pretty and some not so. It’s a bit like that dusty coral pink or particular shade of ochre that you find in some stores and wonder ‘why on earth did they do that’, and which you know for sure will end up on the sale rails. It’s really the same with floral prints. Some are beautiful, seductive, girly and downright gorgeous and others a mixture of too many colours or a print that if you’re not very careful will make you look frumpy and fuddy-duddy and you’ll spend all day wondering why you don’t feel quite right.
It won’t come as any surprise to anyone to learn that some of the prettiest prints are already nearly sold out, such as Oasis’ ditsy floral print tea dress, and Mango’s floral print lace top, although you can find them usually on more than one website, as I have here.
The prettiest florals are not a lurid mixture of colours, but a well thought out, modern or vintage style design, usually based on black, mavy or white, that you’ll never get bored of and be happy to pull out of your wardrobe every time spring/summer comes around.
Personally I wouldn’t spend a fortune on floral print pants unless you’re absolutely sure they look stunning on you, just because they’re on trend doesn’t mean they should be on you. And if you’re going to splash out on a floral print handbag or pair of shoes keep it simple - one piece is enough, which applies to all most things floral.
This season there are some really beautiful, modern - in terms of design and print - floral print dresses and accessories around, so if you’re tempted, go for it. Keep it simple, contemporary and in a style that flatters you and you won’t go far wrong.
