However much you want to you can’t tone down the sexiness of leopard print, it’s not about the trend which goes on and on, but about the opportunity to wear something that just has that je ne sais quoi that says ‘look at me’. Always eye catching, leopard takes the biscuit when it comes to adding appeal, far more, I think, than zebra and python prints. The first never lasts for very long (because leopard flatters everyone) and the second because, frankly, so many don’t like the print for its connotations.

I have, on occasion, ventured into a leopard print dress and these work sometimes but you have to be careful not to overdo it, and leopard print swimwear many times looks overdone. Scarves? Yes of course, any time, and from Oasis to Louis Vuitton they’re everywhere. Lingerie? Now that’s another matter entirely. Don’t get me on that one…..

So back to bags and shoes. If you’re going to pick up on piece of mint new leopard print to take you from spring to summer – and onwards – make it a modern bag or pair of shoes, preferably heels. One piece at a time.
