A gorgeous ring is something you’ll want to wear over and over again, if not every day. Whether you like traditional of contemporary jewellery, a dress ring, in other words not your engagement or wedding ring, will add emphasis to what you wear and clearly demonstrate your style.
Finding a perfect ring can be a struggle. First you need to know your size, so if you’re thinking of investing head off down to your local jewellery store and get measured, and if possible take another favourite ring with you to check, you need no slip-ups here.
Then browse the collections and prepare to be overwhelmed, from beautiful pave-diamond set rings to fake solitaires there are thousands out there. My favourites sit in the middle of modern and traditional - anything too modern and you may get bored of its simplicity. Anything too traditional may become boring. Some rings never date. Others can.
These are my five favourites, with the Russian Wedding Ring at the top of this page being my No 1. Designed in silver, and with one of the interlocking bands set with three tiny diamonds, this ring is timeless and elegant (and you can order it in yellow, rose or white gold as well).
Then there’s Shaun Leane’s cherry blossom ring, which is a real eye catcher. It is beautifully crafted, unusual and romantic. Astley Clarke’s ‘A Little Light’ ring, here in a star shape, is designed to be worn either on its own or preferably in a stack, as there are similar pave set rings with hearts and circles.
Alex Monroe’s pretty dragonfly ring would be perfect for wearing every day. Made from 18ct gold this is one of his signature pieces and he has created pretty pendants in the same vein, featuring dragonflies and bumblebees.
And finally, because no ring collection is complete without a little colour, there is Lilia Nash’s pink sapphire and 18ct ethical gold ring, which again can be stacked with others or worn on its own (or as an engagement ring).
Lilia Nash uses only ethical gold or silver and fair trade gems wherever possible. She also designs and hand makes every piece herself.
