I love to find products that fulfil double duty. The benefits are that they usually save you £££, they’re easier to travel with and more convenient to use. The downside can be if one half is great and the other not so.
Lancome and Guerlain are tried and trusted foundations with concealers, Lancome’s Teint Visionnaire has excellent coverage without being too heavy and the concealer on top which matches the foundation has a creamy texture which covers what you want it to without looking obvious. A little more expensive than Lancome’s normal foundation, to take account of the concealer. This is well worth the investment.
Guerlain’s Lingerie de Peau Foundation Compact is one to slip in your handbag. Guerlain also is not inexpensive, but this compact contains shades that complement each other perfectly and offers excellent coverage, or a touch up when you need it. It’s particularly great for travelling when you want to get off the plane looking as if you’ve just come from the salon. I wouldn’t be without mine.
Both of these are the top end of the range, but they’ll last you a long time, are beautifully packaged and, what’s much more important, they’ll fulfil both functions perfectly.
Two other makes of foundation with concealers attached are Daniel Sandler’s Invisible Radiance Foundation and Concealer which you’ll find at FeelUnique.com and which has excellent reviews and a lower price tag than the other brands, and in the same vein Stila’s All Day Foundation and Concealer, which comes with a brush as well.
Finally, and if you’re ready to splash out, at the top end of the skincare and makeup spectrum you might like to look at La Prairie’s lavish Skin Caviar Foundation and Concealer. As you’d expect with this brand, it’s packed with luxurious anti ageing benefits, and has a stand and brush to go with, well you’d expect that, wouldn’t you?
Choosing a new foundation can be a tricky business, quality wise and colourwise. If buying online it’s better to stick to a shade that you know works very well with your skintone, and if in a store don’t buy without taking it to natural light. You can’t judge colour in artificial light. Trust me, I know these things.
