A Treat in Paris at 114 Faubourg - and the Best Cheese Straws in Paris

114 Faubourg, or 'Le 114' as it's known by regulars, is the one star Michelin restaurant attached to the hotel Bristol.

Lucky enough to have been invited to dine there a couple of nights ago to discuss food and opera with like minded friends I can only say that if you want a real treat night out in Paris this is one place you have to visit, but book early as it is just about always full.

This is not the place for an inexpensive night out, but somewhere really special, attached to the Bristol Hotel on the Faubourg St Honore in the heart of the most luxurious shopping street in Paris.  The restaurant is modern with a retro feel, and the service is as you would expect, superb.

I'm not, as I've said before, an expert on food writing, just one of those who knows what she likes and everything here was absolutely delicious, from the pate en croute to the cabillaud with white beans.  Sounds simplistic?  Of course it wasn't, nothing is from this kitchen.

I am not, also, a dessert lover, but I have to say I was tempted by my friends' beautifully presented sorbets, and a Tiramisu which, I am told, was heavenly.

114 Faubourg is a perfect place for a treat night out - every meal there is a celebration - not forgetting also the cheese straws which I was told are the best in Paris, so if nothing else, go there for those.  Delectably buttery and crumbly they're utterly scrumptious..........but stop at one as otherwise you'll have a problem when you reach the Tiramisu.
