Oscar de la Renta to Alexander McQueen - 10 Pieces for the New Season
This is a very difficult time of year from a fashion point of view, particularly if, like me, you’re out in Texas viewing the autumn collections arriving in store and thinking whaaaaaat?? It’s still 100 degrees.
Checking the temperature back in London I can see that it’s falling fast. Indian summer? Maybe, but there’s no guarantee and in any case, we know for sure that it will be cool and quite possibly damp quite possibly very soon.
Looking at the new collections at Net-a-Porter - the perfect place to start - it’s hard to know whether to pick pink, grey, leopard or cobalt, and then Michael Michael Kors and Day Birger et Mikklesen put everything into clear autumnal perspective with burgundy and plum.
Playing safe I’d go for rich berry hues, a dash of leopard and a splash of red, a piece of modern jewellery and a new addition to my collection of Little Black Dresses. Not that I’m buying right now…..but these are definitely on my wish list.
The dress at the top shows off just how beautiful real tailoring can be, by Lanvin it incorporates the draping, peplum, plaid, raw hem and colour of the season. If you could only buy one piece?……….
