10 Favourite Trench Coats from Designer to High Street
In Paris it seems that every elegantly dressed woman is wearing a trench coat, long or short, always cinched in, and a perfect layer over jeans or a dress in this season of ‘what’s it going to do today?’ weather.
There are plenty of beige trench coats around, but also blue, red, black and pale grey. Most here are worn with a scarf, the narrowest of skinny jeans and ballet flats but they work with a certain insouciance over everything and everywhere, from sightseeing to a smart dinner.
The trench coat is a classic to be kept for ever, particularly if it’s by Burberry (where you’ll have spent a great deal) but there are many options that cost a great deal less and look just as elegant, even without the plaid lining. If you already have your favourite beige trench then go for one of the new reds or blues, otherwise start with a classic colour and collect from there.
Somehow particularly for summer shorter options look younger and more modern - longer versions will take you happily into next season. You’ll find a selection of trench coats just about everywhere, however online the best choice is to be found at Zalando, with brands such as Benetton, Tommy Hilfiger, Sisley and a lot you may not have heard of before.
