Marc by Marc Jacobs - In Love with Marc and The Perfect Spring Handbag

Described by the New York Times as ‘Kids clothes for grown ups’, and Women’s Wear Daily as “a collection of little treasures from throughout fashion history, each rewritten in Jacobs’s handwriting”, the Marc Jacobs’ diffusion line - Marc by Marc Jacobs was launched in 2001 and became an instant hit.

More grown-up now than his early preppy style you’ll find fun and whimsical pieces amongst the young, cool and chic from his frequently slightly off-beat but wearable collection of reasonably priced Marc by Marc Jacobs watches to modern and frequently glamorous footwear.  And on to my favourites, his collection of handbags.

Although this is a diffusion range it certainly isn’t cheap, although a lot more so than his mainline collection.  But when you consider the difference between Marc Jacobs (and Celine and Prada and let us not mention the hallowed names of Chanel and Hermes) in terms of a real designer handbag this line is, quite simply, a steal.

As a lover of Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs handbags and having shopped the brand in the US, I’ve been watching how the collections are growing over here.  The dresses, the jackets, the modern, chic skirts and shirts.  All of  these are quite pricey when you compare them to their competition and think how many times you might wear each piece but all beautifully in line with his modern, chic, girl-about-town appeal.

His handbag range is growing all the time, and those that make it to the UK stores get quickly snapped up. Well made, beautifully designed inside and out, classy looking and in soft leathers and great colours…….I could go  on and on and get totally carried away but these you’ll carry day after day and enjoy each and every occasion.

Having invested in a new black Marc by Marc Jacobs hobo (in the US) I haven’t had any desire to change bags all winter, this one just covers every occasion.

There’s a growing collection of Marc by Marc Jacobs handbags (and more) at net-a-porter, Selfridges, Harrods and Matches Fashion.  Check them out and prepare to fall in love.
