Mad About Metallics – Spring’s Shimmer and Shine
If you thought the season of shimmer and shine had just finished, dream on. Metallics and iridescent fabrics of all kinds are going to be everywhere this Spring from shoes and bags to shirts and dresses
If you’re going to go for it choose your metallic carefully and make sure that it flatters as some can make you look larger than you are and highlight – literally – every lump and bump.
Metallics are wonderful in that, particularly this year, they are trans-seasonal, and you can wear last season’s gold jacket this season with aplomb, but you may find a yearning for something new and fresh can be answered best by investing in accessories that won’t break the bank but that’ll see you right through from spring to summer and on into next autumn. Gold and silver (and pewter and bronze and onwards) work across all the seasons and add a little shimmer to just about anything.
Personally I’d go for the Burberry Prorsum metallic lace gown – well who wouldn’t – but failing a gala to wear it to I’ll settle for French Connection’s chic little sequin dress, Warehouse’s silver tweed jacket (if I can grab one before they’re all gone) and Marc Jacobs’ gold quilted shoulder bag. Although with two of these my bank manager would definitely never speak to me again.
