The answer is, of course, if in doubt don’t. The peplum, which just a season ago seemed a fashion trend that would stay firmly on the catwalk has now made it's appearance in just about every collection in some way shape or form, from subtle to outrageous.
This is a trend that doesn’t suit many, that can make you look shorter than you are, wider than you are, and that most men, depending on how subtle you are about your peplum wearing will either tell you they don’t like it or may laugh at you.
Having said that, fashion has realised that not all have a tiny waist, and there are designs with peplums that most could wear, and that many won’t realise are in fact at the cutting edge of this season. So here are some less frightening examples that won’t require a 24 inch waist. At the same time be careful as depending on your shape this one may still come back and bite you.
Make sure when you’re experimenting with this look that you look at yourself from the side and back as well as from the front. Contrasting colours (top and bottom half) can add width, as will anything too tight. Go for a streamlined, self colour look for the best approach to a trend that seems to want to stay around.
