12 Spring Dresses for Curvy Girls

Geisha Fan dressIf you’re lucky enough to be curvy, and by curvy I don’t mean any particular size, finding flattering dresses can sometimes be tricky as you need something that hugs in all the right places.

Jersey is without a doubt the fabric du jour in this instance, not only will it hug, fit and flatter, but it’s great for accentuating your good bits and camouflaging anything you don’t want to make too obvious, provided you choose the right shape, of course.

For spring look for prints or solid fabrics with simple detail in the shape such as wrapping or ruching (or sometimes both) and a v or a deep cowl neck will be more flattering usually than a dress that is cut very high.

When sleeves are an issue there are plenty on offer with cap, short or three quarter length sleeves, or you can cover up with a wrap, or go one far better and get out the weights.

Here’s my edit of the perfect dresses out there right now for curvy girls, including designers such as Etro, Michael Michael Kors, Kaliko, Diane von Furstenberg and Isabel de Pedro

This type of dress will always look better with as few lines as possible showing through, and very often much of theDiane von Furstenberg Wrap Dress detail is at the front with the back being plain.  So when trying on make sure that you look at the back as well and invest in one piece shapewear if necessary, or, as I said above, hit the gym and get out the weights, there’s nothing as motivational as a gorgeous dress you want to make a statement in, particularly as the sun comes out.

The beauty of these is that with a great pair of heels and a chic clutch you really need nothing else.  Expect to get stared at.
