Walking Tall–Ten Perfect Pairs of Knee High Boots

Currently in Dallas and walking past one of my favourite stores at the NorthPark mall – Kenneth Cole – I just happened (as you do) to spot a perfect pair of knee high boots.  The is set me thinking about boots, being the time of year when most of us start wearing them, and just what constitutes perfection.

To me boots have to be glamorous but still comfortable enough to walk in.  They have to work with just about everything – skirts and dresses and also fit under a pair of bootleg trousers particularly if I’m travelling and don’t want to take more than one pair in my always too heavy bag.  The have to be in a colour that isn’t going to be ruined after just one wearing (sorry cream suede, that means you’re out) but sassy, sexy and chic all at the same time.  No mean feat (no pun intended).

These are my top ten.  Black suede are always the dressiest but not necessarily the longest lasting, leopard print?  The jury’s out on that one, however the ones here also come in black and….er…….cream python print.  Boots are frequently a real investment, so I would steer away from anything too ‘this season’, and stick to timeless, wearable, feel-good classic/modern styles.

Incidentally the first pair are the aforementioned boots by Kenneth Cole, and if you want them you’ll either have to cross the pond or order them via and grit your teeth about shipping and duty.  I’ve tried them so I know they fit the bill.  Have I bought them?  No. (not yet, she whispers quietly)…….but there’s still time.
