According to the weather reports the sun is about to come out, and whether you’re planning on beating the school holidays and travelling to the sun early, taking a later break, going with the kids to beach or pool or just waiting in hope for a sunny spell there’s simply no excuse not to stay stylish. Key pieces this summer have to be a kaftan, beach dress or pareo/sarong, chic beach bag and a sun hat.
The list is endless, the choice is enormous and the prices are going up with the temperature as the cleverly designed high street versions disappear. You may think you can leave it until the last minute but my advice is not to.
The Pareo/Sarong - buy one that’s large enough and goes with more than one swimsuit or bikini and then wear it folded in half as a short sarong, full length. or hold it out straight across behind you, bring it from the back to the front, cross over and tie the ends round your neck. Wear this out to dinner if you dare.
The resort sundress, some will take you out to dinner, others are strictly for sunny days.
The every popular kaftan, now available in every colour and style under the sun and mostly very see-through. To be dressed up with jewellery and worn out for the chicest shopping in St Tropez and Mustique..
And finally the all essential beach bag. You may think you can manage without but then regret not bringing yours. The straw variety are not easy to travel with, particularly by air, unless you’re prepared to use them as a carry-on or give them extra space in your suitcase. The fabric bag? Perfect. Lightweight, colourful, folds away and holds everything. The problem is the straw bag is just so stylish………….
We’ll be starting our competition with Simply Beach on June 1st so keep an eye on our Competitions Page at www.thesiteguide.com and please, enough of the duplicate entries - they’re all getting deleted.
