The White Shirt–10 of the Best for Spring including DKNY, Karen Millen, Toast and Anglomania

The white shirt is every girl’s wardrobe staple, to be pulled out and worn with a favourite pair of jeans or pencil skirt and dressed up or down. Like the Little Black Dress, no wardrobe is complete without several white shirts, wrap, pintucked, ruffled, stretch, lawn, or heavy cotton, for day, to be dressed up, or for casual weekends. Quite simply they’re essential.

So why is finding the perfect white shirt so hard? Quite a bit of the time I think it’s down to finding the right cut. It has to be the right length, not gape in front (so not too tight), not hang around you, as in too big. Not need too much ironing (well they all really do, I know) and wash perfectly. You can spend as much or as little as you want, but I’ll bet that with spring around the corner, and please tell me it is, you’re thinking of your next one.

As someone whose collection of white shirts is now defunct – ie they are all too big, as in much too big – I’ve been having a look round to see which are the most chic, stylish and contemporary from the new collections. Here are the ten I found, from romantic and ruffled to wrap and simple every day white shirts. I haven’t bought one yet but the minute the sun comes out…………………………………………I’ll be there.

As you can see there’s a wide choice of styles here, from the sexy and glamorous cut-down front of Vivienne Westwood Anglomania’s Monday shirt and Diego Riega’s ruffled neck and sleeve shirt to Toast’s simple long line shirt and Karen Millen’s wrap. Hard to choose? Impossible, I’d say………………………………………..
